Litter Control Programs

Litter Hotline

This program, which began April, 2000, offers local residents the opportunity to report roadway littering throughout the county, The program serves as a reminder to the public that littering is illegal and thus brings about a positive change in their behavior.

Sponsors: Cingular Wireless, Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Brevard County Tourist Development Council, Law Offices of Tony Hernandez III, and Waste Management of Florida


Step 1 - Call

Cingular Wireless Customers call *KBB (522) / Non Cingular Wireless Customers call (321) 537-6801


Step 2 - Report the following:

The Date

The Time

The Vehicle's License Plate Number

Make and color of vehicle

Brief description of what was seen


Step 3 - Actions that will be taken

KBB will submit a daily report to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's Office will prepare a letter and mail it to the owner of the vehicle.

The letter will inform the owner that on a particular day, time, and place, someone in their vehicle was observed littering.

The letter will serve as a reminder that littering is illegal and similar incidents may result in fines if witnessed by a law enforcement officer.
