About the Great American Cleanup
Each spring from March to May, extraordinary acts of civic pride and renewal take place all across the United States. Under the leadership of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., the Great American Cleanup™ mobilizes annually more than two million volunteers to make their neighborhoods more beautiful, safer and healthier places to live.

In fact, the 2006 Great American Cleanup saw 2,200,000 volunteers contribute 7,530,006 volunteer hours throughout North America. Volunteers ages 10 to 74+ represented a large variety of organized groups, including colleges/universities, scouts, sports teams and military personnel, as well as corporations, local businesses, civic leagues, youth groups and families. These volunteers cared enough about their communities to scour, brush, and plant their way through the nation's largest organized litter prevention, beautification and community improvement program.

About Trash Bash 08
Every April for the past 22 years, individuals and groups have joined Keep Brevard Beautiful in our community to help clean up unsightly litter. They help remove debris from neighborhoods, parks, roadsides, shorelines and wherever litter is found. By providing an example of positive behavior, volunteers help change attitudes about litter. As a result of the action taken by volunteers during Trash Bash, our community looks clean and beautiful and there is a sense of community pride. Sponsored by Florida Inland Navigation District and Waste Management of Florida, Inc., Trash Bash is an event supported by the Brevard County Commissioners and all municipalities in the county. A spirit of friendly competition prevails to recruit volunteers and reduce the most litter on April 19, 2008. The best reward is NO UGLY LITTER.

We would like to thank all the students who sent in their art work for the T-Shirt Design Contest. The winning artwork last year was designed by: Sarah Baldwin, of Rockledge High School.  The design is posted below.  This year's winning design will be featured as soon as it is available.
